Linoleum Letterpress Block Printing Workshop

Join us on this exciting collaborative linoleum letterpress printing workshop with Elyse Herrera and Shadi Ayoub!  Elyse will be guiding you through the steps of preparing and creating your very own linoleum block while Shadi will teach you how to prepare the press and print a limited edition using your block.

Learning Objectives:

• Learn how to transfer your digital image or manually draw directly to the block
• Explore carving tools and techniques while carving your own block
• Learn the basics of letterpress printing your carved block using a press
• Print your very own limited edition of 5 prints

All necessary materials will be provided which include:

• Carving tools
• Transfer papers
• Type high linoleum block (4x6” that you will take home)
• Cotton paper (5x7” that you will print and take home)

In preparation for the workshop:

Please email your digital black & white image of your line artwork to shadi@the961collective.com before June 3rd to allow for us to check it, make sure it is process compatible and give feedback if necessary. If you would like to freeform and draw directly on the block during the workshop you are welcome to do so as well!
